One night I had a dream. I dreamt I was walking along the beach with my dog.
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two
sets of prints in the sand. One belongng to me, the other to my dog.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the
prints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life
there was only one set of prints, mine. I also noticed it happened at times
when I was scared and worried.
This really bothered me and I questioned my dog about it, "My friend, you
promised to be faithful and loyal and be with me at all times, but I have
noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life, there is only
one set of prints. I do not understand why, in the time I needed you the
most you would leave me."
The dog replied, "My dear, caring master, I love you and would never leave
you. During your times of fear and worry, when you saw only one set of
prints, it was then that I was busy protecting you."
